Scaled And Icy-Twenty One Pilots review

 

If you have been on tik tok recently you may have seen a few videos of people saying that they were disappointed with this album and didn’t like it or you may have seen people saying that they really liked the album.

Overall it seems like people have had very mixed feeling about ‘Scaled and Icy’ so I figured I would give it a listen and make up my mind for myself!

‘Scaled and icy’ is Twenty One Pilots sixth studio album. I have previously listened to a few of Twenty One Pilots albums and in general I have thought they were good! They’ve always had unique music and the lyrics have always been deep and meaningful.

I went into this album hearing other people say that the songs sounded like they belonged in an old navy commercial and maybe it was because I had low expectations but I thought this album was actually pretty decent!

The tone of this album was definitely a lot lighter and different than their past albums but I like that they experimented with something new! Eventually it’s expected for bands to change and evolve their sound as they grow and some people may not like it which is fine because it may no longer suit their tastes. But if a band made the same music over and over again it would eventually get boring.

My favorite song from ‘Scaled and Icy’ is ‘Shy Away’. It’s one of the songs that people said sounded like it would play in a Kohl’s (Not to be mean but it kind of does). Not only does this song have a killer music video the lyrics are also super catchy! 

Despite ‘Scaled and Icy’ being better than I expected it definitely was not my favorite album from Twenty One Pilots. Personally I felt like the lyrics didn’t have as much meaning as the other albums which made it kind of fall flat for me. Overall I give this album 7/10 slices!
