What Lovers do-Joy Again review
Today I’m reviewing ‘What Lovers Do’ by Joy Again!
‘What Lovers Do’ is Joy again’s debut single with Arista Records and their first release in 2 years.You may know the six piece band from their previous single that gained a lot of traction ‘Looking Out For You’.
I myself found Joy Again through ‘Looking Out For You’ when it was reaching it’s peak popularity and I really liked their DIY sound but never had the chance to look into their other songs until now.
When I first listened to ‘What Lovers Do’ it was so drastically different from what I was expecting that it took me a second to realize it was Joy Again and I was blown away!
With ‘What Lovers Do’ Joy Again has taken a low tempo dive into a psychedelic and dreamy sound. I’ve never really heard a song like this before and I think it could almost be described as carnival-esqe and I feel like it could almost be put into a category of itself.
I’m sure there must be a lot of weight on their shoulders after the success of ‘Looking Out For You’ which is why I’m assuming they took two years before releasing new music but I think this is a really promising start of a new era for them and I can’t wait to see if they come out with a full length album full of songs like this!
Overall I give ‘What Lovers Do’ 8.7/10 slices! If you plan to listen to this song I recommend watching the music video along with it because it’s really cool and matches the vibes of the song perfectly.
