Interview with Nature TV
Firstly I have to ask the honorary question, what are your go to pizza orders?
Turk: XL thin crust veggie w/ added double pepperoni. It’s confusing but oh so delicious.
Zal: I don’t eat pizza, too many carbs.
Guy: Hawaiian, all about the pineapple.
Jimmy: Margherita, it’s the most popular for a reason.
—
Do you prefer to be in nature or to watch TV?
Turk: In these colder months TV is king, but definitely would rather be in nature. Somewhere tropical and mysterious…
Zal: To be in nature, good for the old blood pressure.
Guy: A healthy balance of both, nature is cool but put it on a screen and its best of both worlds?
Jimmy: Definitely Nature, I’m a bit of a Naturalist or naturist, I don’t know which is which, but I have a big tv.
—
On the topic of nature and TV what is your favorite TV show?
Guy: Mandalorian at the moment, best Star Wars in years.
Zal: Anything Louis Theroux, he’s my guy through and Theroux.
Turk: Such a huge question. There are so many number 1s but let’s go with Father Ted.
Jimmy: Top Gear, it's the only show I watch, I’m just not that into tv.
—
What was your favorite part of making ‘Tell Me Something Good’?
Turk: Probably hearing the first mix of the finished recording. Really love how it’s turned out. Hope other people but us do, too!
Guy: Piecing it all together, it took a while to make it work and I hope it does.
Zal: Hearing it with the full band for the first time.
Jimmy: Having fun in the studio, trying to pick the perfect snare drum, Zal has no idea.
—
Was there a moment in the production of ‘Tell Me Something Good’ where you tried something and could tell instantly that you made the right decision?
Turk: Yeah I used a thicker pick which helped get a slightly chunkier bass tone. Yellow Jim Dunlop (in case you’re wondering).
Guy: That shaker, always love a good shake.
Zal: Hmm that shaker.
Jimmy: For a long time there were no bvs in the chorus so that was a good one, and also waiting to hear how Solo mixed the guitars.
—
How did you come up with the nickname door to door heartbreak salesman?
Turk: Not sure. Maybe it came to one of us in a dream? The heartbreak part certainly checks out.
Guy: It’s been our bio for so long I can’t even remember how it came about, probably cos we work bad jobs and are lonely.
Zal: We write sad songs and have as much luck selling them as door to door salesmen.
Jimmy: Wasn’t anything to do with me.
—
What element from ‘Tell Me Something Good’ do you feel stands out the most?
Turk: A couple of big ol’ F# minors and a couple of even bigger choruses.
Guy: Jimmy’s guitar part in the chorus, it’s a real heartbreaker.
Zal: The Half time prince chord.
Jimmy: I appreciate the effort that Turk put in on the bass.
—
And lastly, what do you have planned next for Nature TV?
Turk: Some more stuff coming out, a bunch more gigs and a general furthering of our tight musical family bond.
Guy: Try and release a potential album next year I would say.
Zal: We’d like to support more other bands and hopefully do our own headline show as well.
Jimmy: I wanna support Men I Trust, I think we could be the men they trust.
