Volume 1 (Big Smile)-Blaise Ambrose review

“It’s like maybe, I’ve been late lately on figuring out me. Am I ever the shit?”

Today I’m reviewing ‘Volume 1 (Big Smile)’ by Blaise Ambrose!

Blaise Ambrose mixes catchy lyrics, country esque vocals and smooth acoustic guitar to create a unique style. I would describe this EP as country if it had a baby with indie and if the baby sung songs about eating McDonald’s on the floor of Penn Station.

All of the songs on this EP were different but the acoustic guitar tied them all together really well! And I felt that the last song on this EP ‘Pops’ was the perfect last song because it was the most simple of them all but it had the most to say in terms of meaning which made you finish it on a thoughtful note.

‘Cause downsides got upsides, from the other side. You just can’t quite see em’ from where you’re sitting on’

It was difficult to decide but my favorite track from this EP was ‘Trippin’ Backwards’. The lyrics had a fun rhythm and I like the thought of there being upsides in your future but you just can’t see them yet. If you like music with a fun and unique acoustic style you should definitely check this EP out! It’ll be sure to put a big smile on your face! (Yes this is a pun)

Overall I give this EP a 9/10 slices. Blaise is donating 100% of the proceeds from the album to support Palestine refugees so if you can please buy the album on BandCamp or whichever streaming service you use!
